I would say self-important more than self-hating. It’s their way of brandishing secularism in a country where (they know very well) religion is the driving cultural force. People from the “Merkaz” need to show that Israel can be a secular country.

I thought this was an interesting article, but I am not knowledgeable about this area. I would imagine that Z Street wouldn’t be one of the most popular organizations for the current administration.

Yeah, well, it sounds good to me. It’s about time someone stood up to these peace-niks. They love to put pressure on Israel. Let them feel the pressure once. Only Israel has to deal with such a myriad of problems-many of which, unfortunately are “internal” ones.
